Lucy Breidenthal
Associate Therapist
“Befriending our bodies and making peace with them is the beginning of one of the best relationships we can ever have: the relationship with ourselves.” ~ Esther Perel.”Why Eroticism Should Be Part of Your Self-Care Plan,”
If anxiety, fear, shame, or isolation are keeping you stuck—whether within yourself, your relationships, or your family—I’d be pleased to walk alongside you toward relief and connection. Maybe your partnership feels misaligned. Maybe changes related to conception or parenting are challenging how you see your body, your desires, or your expectations. Or perhaps you’re navigating adolescence or sexuality with your developing teen and feeling unsettled. I’m here to explore real, compassionate pathways toward healing with you– you don’t have to do it alone.
As a queer, fat-positive, and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapist, I offer a warm, confidential, and curiosity-driven space to help you unpack distress tied to intimacy, sexuality, body shame, gender, and relationships. Whether you’re working as an individual, couple, polycule, or family, we’ll focus on what matters most to you.
My approach blends experiential, somatic, and empathy-driven methods—perfect for navigating sex therapy, gender transitions, body and relationship concerns, queer identity, and more. I bring cultural humility and a decolonizing lens to my work, shaped by over a decade of experience within progressive faith communities. I’m deeply committed to reducing stigma around sex and identity in such circles, including supporting trans youth and their families through affirming conversations and care.
Together, we’ll cultivate trust, warmth, and safety to help you identify what feels authentic now—and define how you want your future to look. We’ll gently trace the influences of your upbringing, culture, body, and relational patterns, leaning on curiosity rather than judgment. Usually, this builds confidence, self-esteem, and self-awareness, empowering you to face life’s decisions and challenges with clarity and courage.
I’m passionate about holding space for the parts of you that may feel hard to share—to sit with your stories, no matter how challenging, and to help you discover the meaning and strength that emerge through brave exploration.

My favorite way to travel through the city is by bicycle. I have a terrible sense of direction but learning the city on two wheels keeps me alert, fresh, and curious. I always learn something new–a shortcut, a hidden path, or, lately, discovering all the vantage points you can see the Empire State Building from (did you know you can see it from Ridgewood, Queens?)
In my off hours, you can find me resting and restoring in my local coffee shop, attending classic film series at any of NYCs indie movie theaters, cooking for my community, and–when the weather permits–floating in the ocean or the occasional pool.
